Castle Day!

I realized today that if I review my notes from the previous lecture during the afternoon lectures, when I had previously been falling asleep, (despite the omnipresent café), that I would not only stay awake, but get more out of the lecture. Then I realized how sad it would be if I mentioned this realization to anyone else in the world.

So instead I'll tell you about my new favorite castle and viaduct! They are called the Chateau d'Alleuze and the Viaduc de Garabit. We drove to the castle first, so here are some pictures:

I'll admit, I don't know anything about the history. But it sure is stately, no?

And there's me! Hanging out the window! Would you believe that in France they don't rope off the dangerous parts of the castle? Like the sheer cliffs outside the ancient stone parapets?

Actually, let's make this two posts. Next: Le Viaduc de Garabit!

  1. Your handhold very cleverly hides how you are clutching to the castle in white-knuckled terror for fear of falling through the un-roped window.

I can imagine Americans being lured to unsecured spots as these without knowing how to not fall out.

    That's what I call a tourist trap!

Also, have I told you how much I love that shirt?
